athlete-photo1ATHLETE has announced a UK tour to promote their upcoming new fourth album, release and title yet to be announced. Earlier this year ATHLETE cut ties with Parlophone who was their record label for the first three albums, an announcement of their new label is believed to be imminent.

The new material is eagerly awaited after their first two extremely successful albums, their Ivor Novello award for ‘Wires’ although their third album ‘Beyond the Neighbourhood’ was not universally acclaimed (a view most certainly not concurred by this writer!). The band have gained a hard earned reputation for the quality of their live performances after appearing at major festivals such as Glastonbury and supporting U2 and JAMES in the major UK arenas.

The tour opens in Crewe (bass player Carey Willett’s hometown) on Friday 5 June at the M Club but there is a warm up gig at Loughborough Students Union on Saturday 30 May. After the tour the band will play Guilfest and Somerset House and intend to be involved in the UK summer festival scene, with V Festival, Glastonbury and Bestival being strong contenders.
