Lead by former THE CROWN vocalist Johan Lindstrand, ONE MAN ARMY’s music is a heavy thrash assault on the ears, with chanted choruses adding an air of accessibility, despite the almost constant harsh vocals elsewhere. The best attribute of this band is their amazing catalogue of thrash riffs which draw a heavy influence from legendary riff-masters such as TESTAMENT and EXODUS.

The best moments of the album include ‘Such a Sick Boy’ – a 4 minute feast of headbanging which features a simple, yet highly effective chorus. ‘The Supreme Butcher’ is the heaviest number and is the perfect soundtrack to the most violent of moshpits. Another real standout is the inventive cover of ALICE COOPER’s ‘He’s Back (The Man Behind the Mask)’ – the song works very well and is a very enjoyable listen. My personal favourite of the album though is ‘Heaven Knows No Pain’ – this is a fantastic song with subtle use of keyboards to enhance the lead riff, plus it boasts well varied vocals and the most memorable chorus on the record.

Overall, ‘Error in Evolution’ is another excellent release and already, Johan Linstrand has produced 2 top-drawer death/thrash metal albums that he can be very proud of. This man is a great metal song-writer and with such a talent on board, ONE MAN ARMY and THE UNDEAD QUARTET are capable of going a long way in the underground metal scene.
