buckAfter a 4 year hiatus, which many thought was the end of days for BUCKCHERRY, messrs Josh Todd and Keith Nelson are back with new personnel and a brand new album titled ’15′ (named after the number of days it took to record the album).

Opener ‘So Far’ and follow-up tracks ‘Next 2 You’ and ‘Out of Line’ kick off the album in rocking style and straight away revisits the groove laden rock present on BUCKCHERRY‘s classic eponymous debut album. Tattooed frontman Josh Todd, who was hotly tipped for the vocal spot in VELVET REVOLVER, seems happier than ever to be leading the line again for BUCKCHERRY, and still has a great sleazy edge to his voice – perfect for this sort of material.

Soon the rock moves aside though and a triplet of ballads take centre stage. ‘Everything’ has an extremely infectious chrous, and is a definitie candidate for a hit single. ‘Carousel’ and ‘Sorry‘ are also good, emotion filled ballads, but to be honest, this sounds more like BRYAN ADAMS than BUCKCHERRY.

The heat is soon turned up again with the damn right dirty ‘Crazy Bitch’ - a smash hit for the band in the USA. This is pure sex (a la ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’), and the chorus is a really catchy one that will stick in your head for a long long time. Damn would I like to be in a rock club full of chicks when this track comes on! Also, the video must be mentioned, even the lyrics in the song tell you to watch it – whoa it’s a blinder!

After the high of ‘Crazy Bitch’ - next track ‘Onset’ back just seems to drift by, despite actually being a decent groovy little tune. ‘Sunshine’ rocks things up a little more before we come to ‘Brooklyn’ . Get your line-dancing boots ready for this one, as apart form the dirty lyrics, this sounds like something more likely to come from the vaults of GARTH CROOKS. A fully acoustic, jigallo of a track.

Final track ‘Broken Glass’ then closes things off and is probably the album’s heaviest track and also one of the finest.

In summary, this is a very strong album. The songs all have hooks and there is a nice balance between the sleazy rock n’ roll and the ballads. With the material on here, in particular ‘Crazy Bitch’ - BUCKCHERRY are well equipped for the world domination that possibly stands before them. ’15′ is an excellent return and puts BUCKCHERRY firmly back on the map.
